Ok, can someone please confirm for me who lives in the country, is it true that your national parks are closed and all tourist attractions(EG: Statue of Liberty).

Are government is currently shutdown. Its really no big deal this has happened before.

Anything that is not essential, not funding itself, and isn't paid for from somewhere outside the budget, is closed. This is nearly every national park and Ellis Island.

Ok so help me understand how this is saving American Government money?
Don't these attractions make you money?
If not, then how do they cost money? Like there shouldn't be that much upkeep, also the upkeep would be due to the weather, not tourist coming and looking at these things surely. Even if you close it, you ain't gonna stop the rain/wind kiddos!

Anywayz, I thought Australia was fail cause' the government who won this years election had really bad policies
EG: The Last Election The Labor Party had started to implement an internet plan called the "NBN(National Broadband Network)". It's an awesome leap into the future for Australia, they were getting Fiber Optic Cable internet rolled out to every home/business in the country. Now that the liberal party is in they want to cut costs. One of the plans is to roll out Fiber to a node on every street/rd etc and then from the node they will use copper wire to complete the connection, reducing the speed dramatically. What is the use of installing fiber in the first place? Our government is a joke.

It's not meant to save money.

The majority of the government hasn't been budgeted; no money allocated. This means they have no money to pay workers, pay for things, etc.

So in response, all departments were given one day to go into "emergency shutdown mode," and then furloughed everyone that wasn't essential.
