Title: ST Recruiting
Post by: Alph4bet on October 24, 2013, 02:34:03 pm
Once we have got a decent map(I'm hoping sometime soon, I'll be beta testing some opportunities with all willing over the next week or so).
I'm wanting to host this on multiple realms, now we need at least one channel where the said people can go back to.
EG: Europe we'll make it behh, sth or csb.
East we need StH up if it isn't.
West I've got Clan ST up.
I'll also need help, because I'll only be getting aussies obviously, need other kids hosting for euros/easties/americans on west too...
Clan ST will be open for all westiest whether you're aussie or american.

Nice idea. So you do not want any European people in Clan ST?

EDIT: Do we talk about RoC?

Oh yes, we recruit on both clients ROC and FT.
Yes anyone can join Clan ST for now(Meaning I would rather just have westies in that clan because there is a member cap), you can also come to that channel whenever you like even if you aren't in that clan. However that realm will be active during times you aren't(Atleast I hope it will be active in a few weeks, once I've promoted it properly etc..).

As far as Europe is concerned - recruiting is tricky.

When you suck you will be hated and discouraged - it's very difficult to establish yourself in our community such that you're not insta-kicked from games and flamed to oblivion.

New people essentially need incredibly thick skin or a guardian - someone with status in the community to shield them for the first while as they enter the community.

At least on Europe then, it follows that perhaps we should focus on quality rather than volume - such that a few of you target one or two individuals, train them somewhat, and then shield them from flames/kicks until they get their skill-level up to a decent level. Sheep tag isn't rocket science but at the same time Bnet seems to be full of border-line genuinly retarded people.

Rofl ^^ I loved sidey's last post. Ye, recruiting and having new players stick with the game is incredibly hard because of the fantastically shitty attitude most players bring. I try to flame everyone equally, and I typically don't try to flame someone who makes mistakes (because it leads to more mistakes... dno if ppl realize that yet). If we want the community to expand we're going to have to accept that not every game is going to be 'tournament level' status. In fact, we have to accept that most sheep tag games will be mediocre-skill-level.

If people are to keep with sheep tag, then they have to love not only the game, but the community. It's kind of hard to love this community unless you've been part of it for some years already. 5 years ago people were much more accepting of new players, whereas now we're left with a bunch of elitist fuckfaces who kick if you miss a kill.

tldr: If we want ST to expand people need to not flame new players like nuts, and keep their anger under control.

I agree i got pubs that sucked. I taught one of the kids mapgrid but he forgot it so he got kicked, the second got kicked after the 2nd round. This should change
