Hi guys, we're gonna do a worldcup, this is gonna be awesome, 4 teams, 5vs5(maybe 6vs6), 20 min rounds, in like 3-4 weeks!

I don't think it should be called a 'World Cup' because we simply lack people from all around the world. Not as many fish in the sea etc. However if a world cup does come around i'd be more than happy to participate being #1 :D

Even sidey doesnt want to play. Not sure if my team is still participating since Sidey is our enemy.

Calm down there is already 2 teams and lots of players still not used. Sidey not playing is irrelevant - try to crush me and my potential team I havent joined yet, and cmk and his baguette crew

Current setup is flawed. What about the below?
1. Tournament date is set and the people that play are the people that show up (player pool).
2. All geeks sign up on that site and then 2/3/4 captains pick from the player pool similar to a versus.
3. Tournament runs.
All during the same night.
This eliminates stacked teams and makes it more fun for everyone. Also should reduce people not showing up etc.
Just a thought - as otherwise the people with the best social connections on Bnet will tend to win.

Might be interesting however:
1. You can't do mass strategy practice
2. You might get stuck with a toilet you don't want to play with.
3. The point of a World Cup is to have teams?
4. You can still pick people from the "Free Agents" pool to create a team with.
What are the 'flaws' of the current setup?
The only problem we currently have is that there are not enough teams.
It's not about winning, it's about participating! :D

Problems with the current setup:
1. You'll have 1-2 teams of 'pros' and 1-2 teams of leftovers instead of 4 balanced teams
2. Your chance of winning depends more on the people you know than your ability
3. People with the ability to organize a team all pile up on one team = more people that don't show up
4. People that aren't that good won't be allowed to play or are used as emergency toilets
This is just a suggestion - I will ofc support it either way. But I don't see myself running around trying to find a team, trying to get them all to show up for training, and then see them not show up on the day of the tournament.

My team is one of the two teams. We need people who are willing to be captain e.g. sidey. No need for lots of free agents, just a person who leads a team and invites them one by one.

I stopped paying for oSaSHost 1 month ago so I don't know if it might just shut down or drop games.
Can't afford it anymore :/. As soon as I have a job I'll set it up again.

This is part of the reason why sheep tag is so dead... europeans are literally the whiniest buggers about their ping. You guys complain about having 30 ping on a bot jesus christ. I have 90 ping on a good day on a european bot, and I NEVER get to play on east for sheep tag. Euros absolutely refuse to play in any sort of delay.
As a side note if someone needs a standin for team please contact my bot (sitting in StH or Behh). I'm not 100% sure if I can play but I'd love to standin if i can, and maybe make a difference ^^

Am i supposed to be happy or angry about what Cele just wrote? I dont know but i can tell that i have tried to play on east server with delay and that's actually not so bad, so i can tell 70 ping is bad for me on botson lol and again cele complains about Europeans playing on european server as if east server were an alternative with 3/4 euros almost in each game that is hosted. I dont know if Cele has mathematical issues or if playing on euro is a big deal for him considered it is european server so question is if he should continue to play with europeans if he got a problem. Celestos, take ur ass back to east and play in 0 delay there if it makes u happy. We europeans dont give a freak fack **** about you Cele, you might aswell know that right now so you dont come here again thinking we will care about your opinion on exactly this subject. Go establish your own community because i built this up slowly starting from the bottom.

TP i will not allow u to make comments like that against cele, you have turned into an angry polar and its disgusting and i can no longer tolerate it. Not only has ur attitude become more bitter but ur personality is dry and shriveled up. Where is the old tp smoking skunk and full of life? Firstly, only one or two euros (namely sidey and cmk) are the only ones in recent memory to play on a bot where they didn't have 3 ping (east bot). Now you say I have mathematical issues, but in reality the america's account for a HUGE portion of sheep tag activity. When easties are on and euros are lingering (when easties hold majority) it should go to east bot without question. However all these europeans boycott it? I've not boycotted a game for delay in over 5 years, but people like polar, jean-mii, and many other negative influences not only never play in east host... they actively make sure it doesn't happen by ruining the games (joining, then leaving after noticing they have 60 ping).
I'm not saying every european does it, but easties have played on european host the VAST majority of games (and this is partly due to majority europeans), however time and time again when easts have the majority europeans drop like flies. A sick 3v5 on east host with east majority will never happen because the 2-3 euroes we need ALWAYS without fail boycott east host. It's not fair. It's not right. It's not fun to always play in delay. That extra .4 seconds delay can be the difference between a sick show and a toilet game. That is a huge reason of why I don't play, and a huge reason of why east sheep tag will forever be dead. Imagine if we had another server of resources again. The main reason people don't play on east anymore is due to the boycotts europeans made over east hosts. I watched east die moreso than anyone considering I'm the only true old eastie "semi" active.
tldr; it's not fun always playing at a handicap. Europeans need to be open to east hosts later in the day.

It's not even about delay.
My average ping is 20. If it gets up to 80 in an european bot it means I am LAGGING and there is NOTHING to do with "DELAY" here but CONSTANT spikes.
I am sure trollpro does not have any ISSUE with delay but is having rather SPIKES and thus does not want to play on botson.
You americans have HIGH ping in europe but DONT lag. You just have DELAY. So your case has NOTHING to do here and is irrelevant to what trollpro said
If youre an american and playing in an american bot, you'll have 20ms average or maybe even less. If it goes up to 80 it means youre lagging, downloading, what ever you want but its not about DELAY. No1 wants to play in lag, noone.
Trollpro is in his right to refuse to play in a bot where he LAGS.
As for an East bot, I've never refused it and I find it fair if there are more americans in game so Idk why you mention my name there but goodluck trying to get more easties than europeans in warcraft III.

Jean is completely right about this case, i did get angry when u Neppy the hoster of a Stwc accuse me of lying about how i play in a bot plus my intentions with my message to cele. Cele has been complaining about us playing on euro server in a negative way. Ofc i aint just gonna sit and take it, had Cele explained to me the way he just did i would not have said things the way i did, i was infact just speaking on behalf of us who play on euro but sure, let's figure a day where we play on east, now that Cele has made it clear to me i understand his situation a little better and im willing to play on east.

Practically everything said in this was true... (especially about the difference between 20 ms and 60 ms (.4 seconds) delay... Euro's case is decent with having 80 ms or 60 ms is probably quite true.
as an Eastie I can say for fact we ALSO get these lags - in fact I have delay AND spikes and sure I do complain about it, but the mere moment it hits a euro they're (http://DONE PLAYING.)
But hush the Tourny shouldn't not be played because of a little lag. Hope we can get a American Bot and MAYBE play it if we have a EASTIE majority. Euro majority = ofc Euro bot = Yeye?

Yes it is happening.
Americans wanted an all American team so I just made one. I don't know who can play and who will.
I'm okay with removing the team if nobody on the american team wants to play, but would prefer if their would just be an all american team.
So jdawg, find out who's willing to play and give me the line-up :)
If nobody has a problem with it I can also delay STWC2014 by 1 week ( signups close tomorrow night ), because I just released the STWC2014 trailer and people can't seem to properly organise teams.

I want all teams to be complete by Sunday and everyone knows on which team they are so we can start fast or I'll cancel STWC 2014.
So go around and ask for updates on other teams for once.

If you decide to cancel, I'd suggest postponing it until early to mid january. I imagine it will be much easier to get going once people are finished with school for the semester. Currently, the tournament falls on finals week (at least for me).

hey a couple things i'd like to say
1. the teams seem stacked as **** their are a couple teams with 5 players that commonly play and are good the rest just have like 1 or 2 skilled players who actually play
2. if there's any team that needs me please ask actually is taking it serious and need another player i'd be glad to join your team, as of now i'm on american team but idk if anyone's actually going to show up so unless i find out they're going to actually play i'm down to join another team
also to the delay issue, unless we get enough easties we shouldn't make the euros play on our bot reasons:
1. once we feel the no delay on east host we won't want to play on euro host, we will slowly get more and more against playing in their host to the point we fight too much and we have community issues.
2. vice versa with euros basically, when they play in it they will complain a lot after being use to having 0 delay which will also spark community issues.
i'm not speaking about absolute every player i'm just speaking about most players in general, basically the new sheep taggers i know cmk polar and the oldies can handle delay because we've played in delay majority of sheep tag careers..

This tournament is looking to become yet another failure, due to the lack of both insight and knowledge of how organizing works and obviously, lack of players.
There were troubles organizing such event before even when community was 5x larger. I don't see any way how this could work with such a small community that exists now, so instead of wasting time on this, you should look at other alternatives.
My suggestion would be to organize once in a month fullhouse games with prizes if u desire. Or maybe weekly ones if possible. Once the people start gathering for such events, you can think of something bigger, maybe a small tournament in the future etc.
I admire your determination to make It work, but i believe its best if u drop this and try to put your initiative somewhere else.

Didn't someone a while ago keep a running scoreboard of organized matches at some point? I think it got far enough that people were developing an ELO system. Might be able to do that with such a small player base.
