No we can't ban/boycott csb.  If we do, then we are no better than they are.  We are just counter hitlering.  The goal is to play inclusive games and not ban ppl you dislike or people who haven't paid their weekly licky tax

Community Discussion / Re: Sheep Tag Alternative

Alt :)

- Noisy terrain, looks more natural and makes building more interesting.  (Slowing down mass speed without slowing down sheep is a good thing)
- No river.  River on right side is rly derpy and kinda insane that sheep have an exit that requires a minimum of three 3 wolves to contain.
- No "corner is a noob box" like 3/4 corners on 7.1.  Taking the wolf several minutes to kill you, but ultimately your escape is hopeless = really boring & bad design.  Completely breaks 2v4s too.
- Terrain is more open in general.  So there might be less prebuilt jumps for sheep in the map, but there's also less chokepoint ramps, and there are a couple neat image jumps.
- Middle is different, which I think is refreshing.

If anything it looks fatter now because it's been squished.

Well Hawkys stack farm was added in 7.1 Revised III which is a couple years older than the first revo map :P

Ye it's true I got monster history of being a power abuser, which is why the strongest example you got against me is years ago i told someone to add a spider to a post.  Go kill yourself exa  :-*   On the other hand nevermind. I can't risk a judge having exa-logic and then arrest me for murder.
The fact is I've been a successful clan chieftain and leader in the community longer than anyone else. This was not accomplished by being an irrational hitler, but by being a level headed guy.  Furthermore, I've forbidden shoop and any other shamans from kicking/banning people for anything short of obvious spam.  Doing so will get them demoted.

I don't think cow should be a leader at all in the st community.  The last time cow has played a st game for more than 30 minutes before afking (whining about lag/bad images) was in 2009.  That's before many people, like exa, even started playing st!

Where is cow to defend himself?? Oh right, he doesn't even use the st forums  ::)

I do.

Stack farm isn't a unique complicated editor trick or something, there's line in object editor for it.

Saying it was based off the cyclone farm is really.... misleading.  It wasn't as if the cyclone farm was used as a stack farm lol.  The main barrier wasn't even that it was 75 gold, but that it was prohibited (it caused people to d.c from game), so only the pubbiest of the pubs would build it, (and not like they are gonna do a lot of jumps).

I can with some certainty say that the stack farm was an invention gagazet dreamed up without thinking of the cyclone farm in mind.  He convinced Arxon to go along with it because most people wanted an anticamp, just not as noob as slow/cyclone on wisp.  (In other words building stacks in the pen wasn't a negative side effect of stack farms... it was the INTENDED effect)

Beer was an idiot though and made their model smaller.  stacks look returded in revo now.

Community Discussion / Re: Suggestion : gather in the same channel?
« on: August 23, 2013, 11:52:33 am »
The only power abuse I've had on bnet chatrooms as in my own clan on east where:
1. It is widely known that bans last about 5 seconds, and are taken as part of a joke among a small select group of ppl that largely don't mind.  Chakra has led three mutinies on me in the past week ^^
2. I never promised to not ban people from sheep tag homies.

I do make the promise to not ban people from Stairway to Heaven.
In new channel likely the only ban action would be chakras bot against spammers.  I promise not to harm even an itio or apolars, only cow is banned until he reforms.

Me being an anti free speech hitler tyrant is propaganda.  The main evidence for this is that four years ago I told someone it would be funny if they put a spider on sidey's post in a dying forum.

Look at the past history of sidey the forum admin.  He has a history of spamming forums with childporn!!  But this is a different forum, and he has promised to keep it a free speech zone, and I trust him to keep the promise and don't see CP on gosu's forum as relevant to that promise.

I got no problem with CMK, we always got along cool, but he's promoted the people the community has bullied for years, and they've united and now they got some power and some heavy grudges.  I've heard some big tales of abuse.  I've stayed away from them and from revo in part for this reason.  Still when I tried to play a few weeks ago I was told by some that I had been banned for being a "leaver" -- an interesting charge against someone that hasn't joined any games on the bot in recent memory.

There is also the issue that warbotters have been having a field day with CSB recently, and that hopefully StH is under the radar.

Structures aren't built like they are in wc, and sc2's editor is monotonous, and the bnet system sucks.  The existing st maps aren't anything close to what we know as st.

General Discussion / Re: Immigration Debate
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:07:01 am »
Nah but taxes is a good point especially with the rise of multinational corporations.  Say you got country A which taxes people at 2% and country B which does 50% tax.  If there were no barriers to immigration at all, all the rich people move to country A and poor people to country B.  This usually doesn't happen on national scale because of language barriers, people being attached to their country, and travel expenses.  But you can still observe this being a problem where Chinese millionaires moving to Singapore, for instance, or giant companies locate their headquarters on a random caribbean island.

You can see this issue within the US where you can stay within the same country but choose a local government that fits what taxes you want to pay.

There are also assimilation issues if the rate of immigration is too high.  If a large group of a "foreign" nationality moves to your country at once, they tend to only interact with each other.  A lack of assimilation can cause a lot of social issues like racism and inequality.  In the US where there is a lot of diversity and a lack of social mobility this problem is huge, and the result is things like Chinatowns, all mexicans = farmers, and the entire city of Miami.   Even in countries with greater social mobility (Europe) there are huge problems assimilating a relatively small amount of amirs.

I personally am not opposed to immigration, I've often thought about leaving US and I think I disagree with most anti-immigration laws out there.  But I think there are big potential problems.  How you address these?

Community Discussion / Re: BD TOUR 2: RESULTS
« on: August 19, 2013, 03:32:37 am »
As long as you've agreed what the ending number is it shouldn't be a big deal.  You could look at the ratio of points/plays for the player and add the average.  (i.e. Stalker would get 50.x so be ranked ahead of anyone with 50 or 49)  It's not perfect but might be best compromise.  Changing the format at the end to make it even would give more skewed results.

I think a bigger concern is how you're picking the maps (I'm not there so I don't know).  Would suck to play one less round on a high scoring map consistently, etc.

BD tournies are great idea :)  unlike revo tourny it doesn't require 50 people, and entire teams having to show up or reschedule.

Obviously you have to judge by points not score.  Otherwise you could do legend move, bring entire wolf team on you and die, meanwhile all your allies to score.  Also you would start targeting the specific sheep that's in the lead.
The game only uses the score as a tiebreaker (For lack of a better tiebreaker).

Best thing about BD is wolfing is much more interesting and important, and never face the "1000 farms i give up" in revo.  Also for those that just hate wolf all together, you are wolf much rarer than in revo, where you are usually wolf.

General Discussion / Re: Music Taste by IQ (SAT scores)
« on: August 19, 2013, 02:33:21 am »
Yeee Bob Dylan !!!

Some that were surprising to me:

I don't see why U2 or  Radiohead aren't in the middle of the pack (both are definition of mediocrity)
I'd also expect tool to be slightly higher, but then again a lot of their fans might be unambitious potheads :P

Classical is also really low, but I suspect that's because if you can't name a band and instead just come up with a genre, you're retarded.  All the genres are ranked a lot lower than individual bands in the genre. (Beethoven is off the charts in the complete list).

Also really to see Kanye West higher than Nas.  I would expect both to be low as it's mostly black people music, and blacks dont score as high on the SAT.  But still Nas being below Kanye West is backwards, as Nas's music is about as objectively smarter as possible than Kanye West's.

Also OAR is approaching Nickelback's level of boring music, so I'd expect them to be lower as well.

Would be interesting to see some more trance and real metal bands on the list  ;D

Community Discussion / Rvolution de la Tyrannie du Cowardlyshoe

Shoop has recently informed of all the many sins perpetrated  by Rival[behh].  I have pledged my resources to ridding the world of this cancerpanda once and for all.  I stopped short of the true goal when I only exiled him from East.  I was lazy, and in my laziness I exported the plague to Europe where it has been fermenting for years.  It's time to right my wrongs, it's time to take him down once and for all.  I've created a clan on Europe focused on a pathway to enlightenment and purging of cowardlyshoic activities.  It's name is Stairway to Heaven.  It bears no relation to an archaic eastern clan with a similar acronym.  Stairway to Heaven is here supporting it's global cause of freedom and enlightenment through a society bereft of Cowardlyshoe.  All are welcome to share in the haven where we do not tremble from his annoying and mundane superiority complex or his Orwellian reign in Clan Behh.
