I'm not Tollison, and your out of your head.
I'm younger, but why do you expect me to know what meth did to people?
Why do you find insulting others amusing?
-
Typical tollison, lol. You don't get my point at all. You have no idea what is reasonable or rational.
Also, I'm never angry posting on these forums. I do it for idle amusement when someone like you agrees that doing meth is reasonable. How can you expect me to not troll someone with such a low iq? I mean, you didn't even know meth was bad until yesterday (and you're like 22? lol).
-
I know you're being sarcastic only because of your previous posts; therefore i'd like you to calm down the next time you post. you're too stressed.
using logic if you donate blood to diseased children it is reasonable because it's helpful, but you were vague about the school shooting.
If I were in a cafeteria, and i was being threatened, of course im going to open fire on my enemy if i have a handgun on me, durp.
lets look at what you're doing. heres your comparisons
sheep tag[game] - dota[game]
meth[drug] - cookie[food]
blood donation[charity] - school shooting[whatever you want it to be according to
see how you messed up when you started getting angry? you started comparing different subjects together instead of the same. people use drugs for their own reason, people eat cookies for their own reason, people donate blood for their own reason, and shooting in a school cafeteria is within their own reason, but if you play sheep tag or dota, which are games, which means they are of the same subject, the criteria of whether you want to play dota or sheep tag comes to how it made you feel the first few times you played both games.
if you play a game and don't like it, which i don't like dota because when i tried it there was no way for me as a noob to do well without trying to read all the heroes and items for a week or two, but i liked sheep tag because i was able to run away, watch my teammates, figure out a few buttons, find the hotkeys, and i was set to becoming a great sheep tagger, unlike dota.
dota has a much higher fan base, and i think its because of its complex gameplay and wonderful design, but sheep tags fan base likes how simple and demanding ST is depending on your APM.
-
Exactly! Whether you choose to donate blood to diseased children, or you choose to open fire in a highschool cafeteria you are reasonable in your choice.
-
what celestial says is true
whether you choose meth or cookies you are still reasonable.
very silly explanation though xD
-
either you choose methamphetamine or chocolate chip cookies you are reasonable in your choice
-
either you choose sheep tag or dota you are reasonable in your choice.
either you choose sheep tag or battleships you are reasonable in your choice.
get it?
-
The thing you are all overlooking I think here is that you all keep saying try DotA you'll find it alot more fun,
but if people do this and they prefer DotA, ST is dead.
So just keep playing Sheep Tag folks, avoid DotA like the plague :D
It doesn't matter if you would prefer DotA over ST, it's not worth killing Sheep Tag.
why is it not worth killing the limping puppy if you guys find Dota more fun?
i've already covered how you're not losing anything "communitywise" by switching. infact, you'd be expanding your gamingcircle/community/friends by uniting old and new sheeptaggers on a common platform. We still have wc3 bots/forums to keep in touch, exactly like now.
your WORST case scenario is that you'll waste some time trying Dota. you simply go back to ST if you enjoy it more after giving dota a fair chance, lol. the worst case scenario is very unlikely though.
you don't have to try dota. you do, however, need to try dota if you want to call yourself reasonable :D
"Revolution 8.7.blackberry.6 Gosusheep Edition" is just one of a million maps. the SHEEP TAG COMMUNITY are the personalities and friends; tollison's crazy posts, hawky's antics, shoop's rage, and exa's hostbot expertise. the STC is the component you want to keep alive. the map should be trashed for better/more fun alternatives, just like we did with ROTS. it's a shame that the sheep tag community doesn't reach it's full potential, simply because some of you want to keep "Gosusheeps.Blackberry.Edition.Tag.For.12" alive. 10 years ago, you guys would be the ones grabbing ROTS while the bigger portion moved over to gosusheeps maps^^

It makes no sense to trash roc dota when it is the foundation for what game you hold so dear. The core of dota gameplay hasn't changed that much. Many of the roc heros / items were imported. My "FM" is now your "CM". The main change to the game itself is more heroes / items.
Sheep tag's game play has changed radically many times over the year, from 9v3 8 hit farm kills, to 8v4 solo diamonding, to 5v5 gridding, massing together, to being a bunch of rt noobs, to running to the corners and pumping sheep images, to nonsensical 5v7 2 hit farm kill games.
ST's core gameplay has probably changed more from year to year than dota's has in its entire existence.
I am merely responding to the really flawed argument/point that no one ever switched from dota to ST. If my switch doesn't count, then neither does yours. I mean have you even SEEN these short 5v7 2 hit farm games, with new and improved bombers!
Furthermore let's not act like this point has any legitimacy. You switched to dota because ST was dying, dota's at an all time high. Of course it's going to be unlikely for a pro to leave an extremely popular game to join a dead one. The only time such a counter example could be offered is in the past, before dota pros were actually making money and ST had more than 100 players. What do you know, such counter examples actually do exist! -- but you quickly cover yourself by saying that old dota was an entirely different game and therefore doesn't count. Some foolproof circle you got going on here :)
I should have said that nobody who played modern Dota at a decent level has switched to ST. I played Dota in 2005-2006 and it wouldn't even be fair to call it the same game, nothing is alike. You can't say this is because modern Dota started at a time when ST was dead either, ST was very much alive in 2008, 2009, 2010 and even for a period in 2012. We have even had Dota players such as Rev, Georgemotts and so on who has come into our community from Dota, given ST a serious try, and then thrown it in the trash.
I'm not saying that there can't be people who would prefer ST over Dota, I'm just saying that all evidence points towards it being very unlikely.

you listed gameplay changes for st, and map-changes for dota. let's try a coherent comparison in your next post???
make a list of gameplay/strategy progress in dota and compare it to solomassing vs diamoning? then make a new list, comparing all the dota-map-changes with the removed stack and 4->2 hit farms in ST, which summarizes the "radical ST map-changes" for the last decade? and then compare massing/switch-runtag (different rules) to 5v5, 1on1, LoD, Wtf, Omg, Diretide, Frostivus etc for dota?
when you're done you'll realize that dota has had way more changes than ST in every category. ofc you can pull this deceiving bull**** and list 100 different ways people have played/strategized in ST, and summarize tousands of map-changes for dota with "more items/heroes". dota-strategy (equivalent of diamond/cornermass/sideygridding/solomassing) ALONE fluctuates more with every patch(several times a year) than sheeptag does every 3 years on average.
and let's not forget that changes in dota have been improvements exclusively, while many of sheeptags "radical changes" have just made gameplay worse rofl.
I am merely responding to the really flawed argument/point that no one ever switched from dota to ST. If my switch doesn't count, then neither does yours. I mean have you even SEEN these short 5v7 2 hit farm games, with new and improved bombers!
not only has noone argued this, i even used SHOOP as an example of someone who chose ST over Dota despite having mastered/understood both games to a satisfactory degree, and in my opening post i might add. enstek continued to claim that people have different preferences, and some will inevitably choose ST over Dota. you took down a flawed point, but i think you posted in the wrong thread/forum :D
my argument is simple, summarized; chances of you enjoying dota more than ST are extremely big, so if you haven't tried dota, you should give it a chance - you'll highly likely enjoy it more than runtag. ofc you'll find extreme cases and outliers.
besides, my argument is contingent on MASTERING the fundamentals of current dota before choosing which game to continue playing, so no, i don't think you're a valid example here drew, since your post demonstrates that you don't know anything about dota and the improvements it has had since 1966.
Furthermore let's not act like this point has any legitimacy. You switched to dota because ST was dying, dota's at an all time high. Of course it's going to be unlikely for a pro to leave an extremely popular game to join a dead one. nope, most of us switched to dota long before st was ''dead/dying''. infact, DREW HIMSELF has stated in the past that ''people moving over to dota caused st to decline/die, not the removal of the stack/invis". Chakra, shoop, and the rest of the anti-stack-frankenstein-squad has claimed the exact same thing.
so, in one debate, st started dying because/after people moved to dota, in the next debate, people started moving to dota because ST was dying. Or maybe it was an entangled process, huh. i'm sure we'll find out how both statements are true in drew next post :D
edit: Oh, and most of the pro-dota arguments are statistical in nature, and you're countering them by refering to 1 person (yourself) as if it refutes anything. and you maintain that a game, durings it's infant stages, is basically the same game 10 years later. it's an understatement to say that you're basically calling ROTS and todays st ''the same'', because dota has undergone much more progress and develoupment. talk about a "foolproof circle".

to nonsensical 5v7 2 hit farm kill games
Whoa 12 players??? Don't give the STC that much credit. 3v5 and 2v4 is about all we get scrummage these days. Considering there's only 10 or so active players in the entire STC and by active I mean gets on at least once a day and plays a game of Sheep Tag.

I remember you playing RoC dota. I won't deny that, you were really good too ^^
Dota Allstars is a different monster though.
-
Well RoC Dota doesn't count obviously. It's like saying you dislike football after playing drunk beach crab football.

drewisfat
Active DOTA player from 2003-2006
Shaman of clan Cute, one of the top clans at that time.
For six months or so almost exclusively played dota over sheep tag
Participated in several clan wars, was especially good with FM and Aqua.
Reasons stopped playing:
Didn't like allstars
Didn't want to move to TFT
Roc dota started to die / clan / friends moved on
ST got more competitive and fun
Retained interest in ST, more room to improve.

The only reason this is the most active thread 8th because it's an argument thread lol..
I would also argue to say Dota isn't as fun as sheep tag as I have played Dota and don't even find it close
To as satisfying. One of the main reasons people would have chosen Dota over sheep tag is because they look and see sheep and wolves and put it off thinking it's childish, they don't see its good aspects and never play it again. While in Dota that doesn't happen. The eye candy plus obvious skill is what makes people chose Dota. If someone were to realize the potential and all the different aspects of st it would probably Level the playing field. But that doesn't happen. And didn't happen. All the pros didn't advertise the game and thus we get what we have today. Now I know what I have said has flaws, but to back up a lot of what I said, I mean look at me. I simply saw pro game play in action and was able to realize how deep and awesome the game is, noting I had played Dota on wc3 before finding St, though I chose St.
I doubt you played Dota on an even mediocre level. Did you even know about every hero, every item and so on? Dota has a very steep learning curve and a lot of people throw the game in the trash before they've taken their time to properly learn the game.
The fact remains that many people who were amongst the BEST at Sheeptag moved over to Dota more or less completely. At the same time I have yet to see someone who actually was decent on Dota moving to Sheeptag completely.
-
Here are a few of the reasons i choose SHeeptag over Dota:
1) sheeptag has a larger playerbase
2) more depth/variation/mastery -> skill is more rewarding
3) more develouped and polished map
4) higher skill-limit -> virtually impossible to fully master/can always improve
5) sheeptag constantly has new additions/features to gameplay -> the game elevates every few months
6) most of the legends/old sheeptaggers/cool guys play sheeptag instead of dota
7) Sheeptag is more strategic and requires more ''intelligence''/theory/understanding, in addition to requiring more skill/talent/practice.
8') and, as a result of point 1-7 AND MORE, sheeptag is more fun. WAY more fun.
What's your reason boys? why do you play sheeptag over dota?
I'd also like for someone to explain a phenomenon to me:
the vast majority of the people in our community that has played both ST and Dota (and mastered the basics of both games) chose to play dota. in fact, the ONLY person in the HISTORY of our community (that i know of) who mastered the basics of dota, yet chose to play sheeptag, was shoop. EVERYONE else either switched partly or fully to dota.
you can write a whole page namedropping everyone who swapped from sheeptag to dota. this started way before st "died", and has continued up til today.
what could explain this?
and since most of todays sheeptaggers haven't tried dota -> What would you say the chances are that you would prefer ST over Dota (after a few weeks of learning dota), given the rate of conversion we've seen so far?
@Beer
you complained that dota didn't have a ranked system before. they implemented that months ago. what are your current thoughts on dota?
1. +1 dota
2. skill required for dota and sheep tag are the same.
3.dota has better scenery and smooth triggers, etc. +1 dota
4.sheep tag is virtually impossible to master. since sheep tag is in basically, "the void" compared to dota, there will only be the great players and the average ones. sheep tag hasn't had enough exposure and enthusiasm to be considered a game to master.
5. quantity doesn't increase quality.
6.because you ditched sheep tag. it wasn't because dota was so much better, but because sheep tag must have been too bad for you.
7. both sheep tag and dota require the same level of intelligence to master.
8. both sheep tag and dota require high APM, and therefore once you hit a time where you don't have time to stop and think about things then you can assume both games can be equally fun.
I already explained that phenomenon. The sheep tag community, and the game, wasn't good enough for you, and dota and it's community was. The same goes for every other person who chose dota over sheep tag. It isn't the game nor communities fault you all left.
amir, you already found the conversion rate of sheep taggers to dota, which is like 99%. I completely believe if all of us mastered the basics of dota to further continue a dota career that we, the Sheep tag community, would fully convert to dota, but we choose to stay and play sheep tag.

Hawkys shaddap, lol. First off this is general discussion, and it doesn't have to be related to sheep tag. Secondly, this is the most active thread this forum has seen in a while, that has actually generated intelligent discussion.
Ye idk about how dota got so popular, but I can safely say I jumped on that train really early. Me, and many other sheeptaggers recognized the potential dota had years before it exploded to what it is now. When it had a couple thousand players on tft, to when it became the most played custom game, to when it became a standalone with 2+ million regular players.
Dota is just more fun than sheep tag, lol. And any argument towards "the community" can be said towards dota (because there are a HELL of a lot more communities for dota).
Someone once described dota to me as "flashy" and "extravagant". Yeah that's a nice bonus, but there is also insane amount of teamwork, communication, strategy, and knowledge that comes with it. If anything sheep tag is flashy (BOMBERS, GOLEMS, HEADSHOTS), but lacking in all of these departments.
-
You gave up sheep tag for a game like that and you have the balls to express your opinion all over this forum that is SHEEP TAG BASED. You have not only shat on me but every single st player, I hope you do not return EVER!
-
i RESPECT any man who has the BALLS to claim that a game is good(in short) because it has millions of players. one starts to wonder what attracted the millions to begin with. ;D
both of the games in question started as wc3 custom mods, both got shitload of exposure, yet one of the games blew to the skies while the other blew to the toilet. one of the games is amongst the biggest in the world, while the other probably has an all-time-peak-record of 50-60 active players. i can't think of any advantage dota had over ST (during the early years) which would explain this difference in develoupment, apart from the games having "inherently" different levels of complexity/mastery/fun/whatever.
sure, this might just be a coincidence - a roll of the dice. maybe Dota got lucky. if you're willing to believe this (despite the fact that everything points to the contrary), then noone can help you. you've become (what we like to call) "a LOST man".
-
I fix SKT T1 Faker in community np ;) Let's see who's good then :3
>asd<
-
It's important to realize that dota is "competitive" "a lot to master" "high skill cap", because it has millions of players. It's become an interesting and challenging game, because it became so popular (and not the other way around here).
That's not a point to not play dota, just don't pretend the game is inherently more complex than others, like sheep tag. We can't imagine what levels sheep tag would be at if the player base was in the thousands, nonetheless if a million south koreans were playing it.
Ofc there's not a chance in hell sheep tag would have or will ever be popular, so by all means go with the flow. I'm just pretty pessimistic on what makes games popular to most people to begin with.
I completly agree with this.
Fix us koreans Drew! Maybe then the old legends will come back to defend their lost title :D

"I'd rather just stick to p0rnstar #1. I already know her and get it in with her. Why dump p0rnstar #1 only to have to spend hours taking out p0rnstar #2 before I'm back to where I was."
you're watching p0rnstar 1. everyone you know is watching p0rnstar 1. you're having a good time.
suddently, everyone you know start watching p0rnstar 2 instead. turns out p0rnstar 2 is the most paid, most famous etc p0rnstar in the world. you have not seen any videos of p0rnstar 2.
do you keep watching p0rnstar 1??? or do you act rationally, and give p0rnstar 2 a try, see what the fuzz is about and why the entire world prefers her over p0rnstar 1 - DESPITE the fact that p0rnstar 1 is good enough for ejaculating? sure, you'll waste time watching p0rnstar 2 videos if she turns out to be bad, but you have everything to gain and so little to lose. and the chances of gaining are MASSIVE!
listen guys, it's this simple: if you enjoy gaming and you haven't tried dota (for a decent amount of time, not some 2-3 rounds ****), GO TRY DOTA. you have so much to gain, and chances are that you'll like it. abandon this ship and catch up with the rest of the world you damn freaks ^^
-
the time it takes before you enjoy playing dota isn't any bigger than the time it takes in ST before you can start enjoying the game.
False.
You can not say whether or not someone else will enjoy a game. I'm sure there is people out there who hate Dota and hate Sheep Tag. There's people who just hate Sheep Tag and people who just hate Dota. You can't say everyone will enjoy any game after X amount of time they play it. Everyone is different.
Dota clearly has more to it then Sheep Tag, but does that mean more mastery? Idk that's very hard to judge and I don't feel like getting into that. Honestly it all comes down to how much time and effort you feel like putting into another game. I'm sure Dota is loads of fun, but me personally I don't have the time to get into another game right now. Also having played LoL as much as I have I feel like I would be going backwards if I went to Dota and had to basically relearn everything.
My turn for a funny quote using your logic:
"I'd rather just stick to p0rnstar #1. I already know her and get it in with her. Why dump p0rnstar #1 only to have to spend hours taking out p0rnstar #2 before I'm back to where I was." -Gandhi

Wow this just made my argument 10 times easier. My god do you read what you type?
Sex and Dota are two entirely different things too. I'm still gonna confidently argue that you're missing out BIGTIME if Dota keeps you from having sex.
i'd quit dota. you're the one arguing to keep playing dota in this scenario. lol.
Dota isn't a simple game. You have to actually play it A LOT before you can play it at your maximum potential. Meaning you have to learn all the different Heroes what they do the cooldowns on abilities and items. What each item does how items affect players etc. There is just too much to learn before you can actually play the game. Honestly I'd rather play something I already know how to like Sheep Tag then spend hours sucking at Dota trying to learn how to play it.
this is true for any game. the time it takes before you enjoy playing dota isn't any bigger than the time it takes in ST before you can start enjoying the game. the difference is that dota has a much bigger skill-limit and more mastery, so it takes MUCH longer to master the game. i consider in favor of Dota though.
ima end this post with a funny quote which relates to the logic you're using:
"I'd rather just stick to mast0rbation. i already know how to do it and i enjoy it. Why spend hours taking the p0rnstar out on a date before you can f0ck her? takes too much time" - aristotle
:P
-
well sure. sex and juggling meatballs are two entirely different things too. you can bring enstek to explain to us all how some people prefer juggling meatballs and some prefer having sex, i'm still gonna confidently argue that you're missing out BIGTIME if juggling keeps you from having sex, and you keep on juggling those meatballs like you're Gordon Ramzey.

im trying to show you guys the LIGHT. god told me to do it. after you've truly experienced dota2 and given it a chance = go back to runtag if you enjoy it more, no problem.

You should show up a little more on sheeptag games, Amir, and then this post woulda been legend. Behh players threw sheeptag for dota ! You really should give it a try once again :)
-
That doesn't change the fact that Dota is a MOBA and Sheep Tag is a TAG. Completely different genres.
I mean hell while were at it lets REWIND 5 YEARS
I prefer Halo 3 over Dota.

however...if you're saying that you shouldn't switch from dota to halo3, assuming that halo3 is objectively better or more fun, then we're speaking different languages my son.
do you object my arguments (Dota2 > st) or my conclusion (therefor -> switch to dota2!)? i can't tell.
But ye Amirs arguments are stupid. Some people prefer the concept of sheeptag over the concept of Dota. If people didn't prefer different conceps, everybody would play the same game.
not rly.
i think the only reason 99% of our community hasnt switched over to dota2 (only 94% has ;D), is because they haven't truly experienced dota, or because of some percieved risk in switching (losing all ur wc3 friends, might not find any new friends on dota 2, investment of time before you can start enjoying dota is too big, etc). this could be true even if dota was objectively better, which noone has claimed.
IF you have time to RUNTAG -> you HAVE to swap to dota. the alternative is irrational. this is based on everything i've said; most of our "unique/fun" community is on dota2, the difference in popularity/playerbase, dota2 is free(you all own a PC), and so on. the chances that you're gonna enjoy dota2 more than runtag is INSANELY big, and the wc3 players are accessible through stealthbots (You can keep your old friends).
im trying to show you guys the LIGHT. god told me to do it. after you've truly experienced dota2 and given it a chance = go back to runtag if you enjoy it more, no problem.

@SamLowe I said go back 5 years^^
But ye thanks for understanding my argument. Sheep Tag and Dota are 2 different games.
-
@amir
That doesn't change the fact that Dota is a MOBA and Sheep Tag is a TAG. Completely different genres.
I mean hell while were at it lets REWIND 5 YEARS
I prefer Halo 3 over Dota. Halo 3 is better and bigger than Dota. Halo 3 has more tournaments and is in MLG. Halo 3 has endless amounts of custom games to play and different game modes to master. Halo 3 has a better ranking system than Dota. There is no reason to play Dota when Halo 3 is already so much better and has a solid foundation with a great company producing and updating the game. There is so much you can master in Halo 3 that you just can't get in Dota. For all these reasons Halo 3 is a better game than Dota and you should just leave Dota and play Halo 3.
I don't know how big Halo is but maybe you don't want to play on a console and as for PC, Dota is the biggest game in the world. http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/04/10/dota-2-overtakes-league-of-legends-as-most-played-pc-game-of-2013-claims-report/
As for Halo being in the MLG, so is Dota. Dota also has its own tournament "The International" which has the biggest prize pool out of any gaming tournament. http://www.esportsearnings.com/tournaments
Skillwise it's a no brainer. No FPS can get close to the mastery and teamwork required in Dota, this is obvious to anyone who have played both at a decent level (which you haven't).
But ye Amirs arguments are stupid. Some people prefer the concept of sheeptag over the concept of Dota. If people didn't prefer different conceps, everybody would play the same game.

OMG BEER! I played Halo 3 Back in the day so much,.. memories !
At one point me and my brother were INSANE at halo 3 ^^.
yEEEEE Id say halo 3 > dota
-
@amir

I play sheep tag over Dota because IT'S BETTER, why did most of those people switch to Dota? I'll tell you why for the answer is completely normal, after playing St for so much time just means they felt like wanted ssomething new and satisfying, which in this case is Dota, doesn't mean Dota is better in anyway.
-
The Dota community is more of a country there is tons of people to play with
The Sheep Tag community is more of a family everyone has to get along if you want to play
Playing with the same people makes the game more interesting as you learn the skills of each player allowing you do increase your own skill by knowing what that person may or may not do. You do not get this in Dota as much as you do in Sheep Tag.
i play sheep tag over dota because...there is a good community that comes with it!
you can make communities/different clans/groups of friends within the dota community. for instance, we used to play Dota inhouses exclusively in clan WhiS for around a year, with the same 30-40 people shuffling in and out of games. it was a nice little family where everyone knew eachother :)
you should also remember that the majority of the "core st players" switched over to DotA. in other words; most of the people that made the STC unique/fun historically => switched over to Dota. a few of the bigger names include exa, cow, chaise, amir, gosusheep, magoo. you can add roughly 40 names (all of which contributied to making the STC so fun), and you have a list of the people that are partying Dota2 on steam. the vast majority will be active players. a tiny fraction of the names worth mentioning include cele, itio, shroomy, r3v-fre3k, thefrozenarmy, polar, Borja, Shoefactory, Koala, Katshuma, Enstek, Etc.
And those are just the people who are on Dota2. This doesn't include the even bigger list of sheeptaggers who switched over to dota on Wc3 (azzuro, cookie, twix, tazz, wizardman, etc) before.
in short -> DotA offers your exactly what you like in ST, as well as the option to play with 9 people you've never met before. not only are there mass communities you can join in dota 2 (like Cele did), but you can play with the exact same people which the STC consituted of for the past 10 years.
other than that; funny that people talk about "the community made me st!!", while in reality => you get to know the community after you decide to spend mass time in Sheeptag, not the other way around. besides, this is sorta like the kids that think they found their "soulmate" when they hook up with a random girl, or the patriot who thinks he randomly got born into the best city of the best country in the world (hi shoop). im sure most of you'd feel the same way regardless of what game/community you decided to spend years in.
the blabber seems more like rationalization for devouting so much time into sheeptag, and continuing doing it, when there are OBVIOUSLY better alternatives such as dota2 ^^

Cele I read that post, and got so confused when I thought I Said half of tollis post, but then I read it properly and found it kinda funny ^^. Only thing is I don't got Skype. But yeč would have said that in game.
-
This is why we don't invite you to skype calls. You're literally buzzkillington, lmao.
Here is what a skype call with you might sound like:
*nmcdo dies to beer*
Beer: ROFL sit the **** down nmcdo
Nmcdo: xD fu beer nubcake
Tollison: Beer stop being so critical, nmcdo was most likely already seated prior to your move. Nmcdo, don't retaliate with frivolous nonsensical flames as it lowers the quality of this conversation!
Nmcdo: ....
Beer: ....

Dota is a MOBA. Sheep Tag is a tag. It depends what genre you feel like playing...
Also I'd pick Sheep Tag over Dota because the community in Dota is to big. Meaning in Dota it's very unlikely to play with some of the best players and actually have input in the games development. In Sheep Tag we know everyone who plays which is why it's so great. I can guarantee that you have not played with every Dota player at least once. In the Sheep Tag Community I can not only say that I have played with every player, but I can probably say I have had a conversation with every player.
Anyways there is no comparing the 2 as Dota is massive. But if you would like to play with your family come to Sheep Tag^^
-
i play sheep tag over dota because i played and became good at sheep tag first, and there is a good community that comes with it!
-
I used to play dota and loved it, but my only problem with that game is its' community. Which also happens to be the reason why I have a problem with sheep tag and every other online community ever.
Most internet users, it seems, are intolerant and sadistic people.I bring skype parties to make it more enjoyable since the game is insanely boring without trashtalking lmao.
see what I mean?
I will never go back to DOTA. We play games to enjoy them, and mastering games is everyones objective, but I will never switch to dota nor play it because I think sheep tag is too unique and fun to give up.
Both games require intelligence, and the higher your intelligence is the better you become. Sheep tag is a repetitive game, and an outdated one, but no one in any sheep tag community has ever tried to create a functioning unified sheep tag civilization that will preserve itself. I believe thats what made IceFrog a true legend. It wasn't the game that made him a legend but his efforts to preserve and advertise it were not only revered but effective as well.
There is no famous sheep tag legends. the 4 listed in the wiki page: sidey, drew, shoop, and amir, are only legends within a small community known for their skill. Neither one of them have done huge significant changes for the community. Some have owned clans, and some have passed them on, but no chiefs have went that extra mile to further preserve and expand sheep tag as icefrog did with dota.
Sheep tag and dota once had their intelligent and friendly communities, but that is no longer the case.
-
I have played both games, and I can honestly say I find sheep tag more fun, and better. My knowledge of Dota 2 isn't that great I admit but I have a pretty good understanding of, yet I still think sheep tag is mor fun.
-
Yee it seems like the case for sheep tag and dota are the same everywhere I ask:
1. Sheeptag is better not b.c of the game, but the community.
If you find a dota community that has nice humor and is active then it crushes ST in all aspects (which I have found btw ^^). Better game, people with microphones (make it more personable), flames are funnier when spoken etc. There is also quite the gathering of ST players that play almost exclusively dota 2 now, and these are the people who are typically the most enjoyable ppl to hang with (don't take flames super personal, there is no abuse to worry about etc).
I choose dota over sheep tag every. single. day. But yee I like to play ST every once in a while to reminisce and see how kids are doing. I bring skype parties to make it more enjoyable since the game is insanely boring without trashtalking lmao.
-
As for the game itself it's a no brainer. Sheeptag is complete **** compared to DotA, even if you look at how the game was when it actually was good (before turkbrain map, before zero delay, before every aspect of the game being mastered by most people) it was still not even close.
What made me prefer ST over Dota years ago was 100% the community. A relatively small, close-knitted and extremely competitive community with this great culture and these great personalities was way better than anything the Dota community could offer. Nowadays I can't understand how you can enjoy ST. Almost all the funny people has left and we're stuck with boringass nerds like Jean-Mii. The competitive flame-culture is gone and has been replaced with a lick-system and abuse. The game itself has lost all its charm and offers barely any mastery any longer.
But ye if some people still enjoy it I'm happy for them. It's great seeing this game still being alive when pretty much everybody thought it would die in 2009-2010.

Don't you mean why I play DOTA instead of Sheeptag?
I am really confused, haven't seen you play any sheep tag lol.^^
All your points "Larger playerbase" is dota.
Also you talking about Dota2 or Dota on war3?
I have played both Dota1 and Dota2 still prefer ST and League :)
Or is the purpose of this post to ask US why we play ST over DOTA.
Then you could have made it a bit clearer by setting the points you made to the right game :P
Like what is the reason you play Sheep tag? Dota has more player, better map etc. etc.
Obviously since nobody hosted alot of pub games in the last few months aside from oSaS before I had internship,
nobody knows Sheep Tag and since Dota is hosted 24/7 ofc they have a larger playerbase :).
Mainly because I enjoy ST more. I play ST more for fun than competitive.
I prefer Sheep Tag, because its pretty simple and enjoyable with the right people.
If everyone chillens you can have a great time.
-
Here are a few of the reasons i choose SHeeptag over Dota:
@Beer
you complained that dota didn't have a ranked system before. they implemented that months ago. what are your current thoughts on dota?
